Child safety online

Every student we teach is a child, so safety is part of how classes are run rather than a policy filed away somewhere. This page describes what we do and what you can expect.

A parent books, always

Bookings are made by a parent or legal guardian, and we correspond with that adult. We do not sign children up directly and we do not contact a child outside a scheduled class.

Open-door classes

You are welcome to sit in on any class, at any time, without asking first. Coaches expect it. We recommend classes take place in a shared room of the home rather than behind a closed door.

One channel for communication

Class links, notes and scheduling go to the parent's email or WhatsApp number. Coaches do not exchange personal contact details or social media with students.

Coach conduct

Coaches are briefed on age-appropriate conduct: no private one-to-one contact outside class, no photographs of a child without parental consent, and no discussion of topics unrelated to chess and learning. Concerns about conduct are handled by the academy directly and a coach can be removed from a class immediately.

Data about your child

We collect only what coaching requires, first name, age, level, and the parent's contact details. We do not sell personal data or use children's data for advertising. The privacy notice explains storage and deletion in full.

Playing online safely

If your child plays on a public chess site between classes, use a kids or junior account where available, turn off chat with strangers, and keep the profile free of real names, schools and photographs. Coaches will point out anything they notice.

Raising a concern

Email hello@learnwithknightly.com with the word "safeguarding" in the subject line and it goes straight to the academy owner. Urgent concerns about a child's immediate safety should go to your local emergency services first.
