Online chess classes for kids in Dubai and the UAE
Chess is on the co-curricular list at a lot of UAE schools, which means plenty of children learn the rules and then plateau. Our UAE families are usually looking for the next step: a coach who can take a child from school chess club to genuine understanding. Classes run live on Gulf Standard Time, and the first one is free.
Who these classes are for
- Children aged 5 to 16 living anywhere in the UAE.
- Expat families who want continuity even when they relocate.
- Children in school chess clubs who need structured progression.
- Parents comparing in-person academies with a stronger online alternative.
How the classes run
- Live 45-minute 1:1 classes or 60-minute small group classes, never recordings.
- A five-stage curriculum from board setup through to tournament preparation.
- Puzzle homework between classes and coach-led review of your child's own games.
- Progress checked against curriculum milestones, not attendance.
What is different about teaching families in the UAE
Fits the UAE school week
Slots are set against the Monday–Friday school week and the local weekend, not copied from another country's calendar. During Ramadan we move classes to suit your family's routine.
Continuity when you relocate
Many UAE families move country every few years. Because coaching is online, your child keeps the same coach and the same curriculum stage through a move, we simply reschedule to the new time zone.
Priced in dirhams
The AED price below is set for the UAE market and shown per live class, so you can compare it directly against local in-person coaching.
English-language teaching
All classes are taught in English, which matches the language of instruction at most UAE schools. An Arabic version of this page is in preparation and under review before publication.
Chess classes for children in Dubai
Dubai is where most of our UAE enquiries come from, and the pattern is consistent: a child at a British- or IB-curriculum school has joined the chess club, enjoys it, and needs someone to give the enthusiasm a structure. Online coaching solves the practical problem too, no drive across the city in the evening, and no class missed because of traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road.
- Classes are scheduled in Dubai local time, the same GST slots listed above.
- No travel: the class happens wherever your child has a laptop and headphones.
- Coaching works alongside a school chess club rather than replacing it, tell us what the club covers and we will build on it.
- Families in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Al Ain book the same slots on the same terms.

Questions we get from parents in the UAE
- Are classes available in Arabic?
- Classes are currently taught in English. We are preparing Arabic-language material and will only publish it once a fluent reviewer has checked it, we would rather wait than teach in awkward Arabic.
- We may move away from the UAE next year. What happens to the classes?
- Nothing changes except the clock. Your child keeps the same coach and curriculum stage, and we reschedule to the new time zone. This is one of the main reasons expat families choose online coaching.
- How does this compare with an in-person academy in Dubai?
- The teaching content is comparable; the differences are travel time, class size and coach matching. Our group classes are small and level-matched, and 1:1 is genuinely one-to-one. You can judge the teaching yourself in the free demo before paying anything.
- Do you adjust class times during Ramadan?
- Yes. Tell your coach what suits your family and we move the slot for the month.
The five-stage curriculum
Every child, in every market, follows the same structured pathway. The demo class decides where they start.
- 1. First Moves
From an empty board to a confident first checkmate.
- 2. Tactical Builder
Stop losing pieces. Start winning them.
- 3. Strategic Player
Plans, not just moves.
- 4. Tournament Ready
Prepared for the clock, the opponent and the pressure.
- 5. Competitive Edge
Individual work on the exact things holding you back.
