Online chess classes for kids in India
Indian families usually come to us with one of two situations: a child who has learned the moves at school or on an app and has stopped improving, or a child who has never played and needs a patient start. Both are normal. Classes run live on IST evenings and weekends around school and tuition, and every child begins with a free demo where a coach works out the right starting stage rather than guessing.
Who these classes are for
- Children aged 5 to 16, from complete beginners to school-tournament players.
- Parents who want a structured syllabus rather than ad-hoc coaching.
- Children preparing for school, district or state-level events.
- Families in any Indian city, everything is online, so there is no travel.
How the classes run
- Live 45-minute 1:1 classes or 60-minute small group classes, never recordings.
- A five-stage curriculum from board setup through to tournament preparation.
- Puzzle homework between classes and coach-led review of your child's own games.
- Progress checked against curriculum milestones, not attendance.
What is different about teaching families in India
Built around the Indian school calendar
We reduce the homework load during board exam and unit test weeks, and increase practice during the summer and Diwali breaks. Tell your coach the exam dates and they will plan around them.
Tournament pathway
For children who want to compete, coaching covers the practical parts too: clock discipline, notation, handling a loss in round two, and how to prepare for a specific opponent. We do not promise ratings, we prepare the skills that earn them.

Questions we get from parents in India
- Do you teach in Hindi as well as English?
- Classes are taught in English by default. Several of our coaches also explain in Hindi where that helps a younger child follow the reasoning, mention it when you book the demo and we will match accordingly.
- How do classes fit around school and tuition?
- Weekday slots start from 4:00 pm IST and run to 9:00 pm, and weekends are open through the day. Most Indian families take two classes a week; one is enough to keep momentum if the schedule is tight.
- Can you prepare my child for school and district tournaments?
- Yes. From the intermediate stage onwards, coaching includes time management on the clock, scoresheet notation, opening preparation appropriate to the child's level, and post-game analysis of their own tournament games.
- How do we pay from India?
- We invoice in Indian rupees at the price shown on this page. Payment details are shared after the free demo, nothing is collected to book the demo itself.
The five-stage curriculum
Every child, in every market, follows the same structured pathway. The demo class decides where they start.
- 1. First Moves
From an empty board to a confident first checkmate.
- 2. Tactical Builder
Stop losing pieces. Start winning them.
- 3. Strategic Player
Plans, not just moves.
- 4. Tournament Ready
Prepared for the clock, the opponent and the pressure.
- 5. Competitive Edge
Individual work on the exact things holding you back.
