Online chess lessons for children in Singapore
Singapore parents tend to be precise about what they want, and we like that. The usual brief is: a real syllabus, honest feedback on where the child actually stands, and a schedule that survives a week already full of CCAs and enrichment. Classes are live, in SGT, and start with a free demo including a level assessment.
Who these classes are for
- Children aged 5 to 16 in local, international or IB schools.
- Children in a school chess CCA who want to go further.
- Parents who want a defined curriculum with visible milestones.
- Families weighing chess against other enrichment options.
How the classes run
- Live 45-minute 1:1 classes or 60-minute small group classes, never recordings.
- A five-stage curriculum from board setup through to tournament preparation.
- Puzzle homework between classes and coach-led review of your child's own games.
- Progress checked against curriculum milestones, not attendance.
What is different about teaching families in Singapore
Designed around CCA weeks
If your child's CCA rotates, we set a slot that survives the rotation rather than one you have to renegotiate every term. Rescheduling with reasonable notice is normal, not a favour.
Honest placement, not flattery
The demo includes a real assessment. If your child is at beginner level despite two years of casual play, we will say so and start where the gaps actually are.

Tournament and school-team preparation
For children aiming at inter-school events, coaching covers clock handling, notation, and preparation routines alongside the curriculum.

Questions we get from parents in Singapore
- Can classes fit around a full CCA and enrichment schedule?
- Yes, that is the most common constraint we work with. Weekday slots run from 5:00 pm SGT and the weekend is wide open. Most families settle on one weekday class plus weekend practice.
- How do you assess my child's level?
- In the free demo the coach plays and talks through a few positions, watches how your child reasons, and then tells you which curriculum stage fits and why. No test paper, no grading pressure.
- Do you run holiday intensives?
- We can schedule a denser block during school holidays. Ask your coach and they will propose a plan rather than simply adding more classes.
- Is a physical chess set needed?
- It helps but is not required. A laptop or tablet with a stable connection and headphones is enough; a physical board is useful for practising away from a screen.
The five-stage curriculum
Every child, in every market, follows the same structured pathway. The demo class decides where they start.
- 1. First Moves
From an empty board to a confident first checkmate.
- 2. Tactical Builder
Stop losing pieces. Start winning them.
- 3. Strategic Player
Plans, not just moves.
- 4. Tournament Ready
Prepared for the clock, the opponent and the pressure.
- 5. Competitive Edge
Individual work on the exact things holding you back.
